what do you think of this HVLP set ?
Looking for a budget set of HVLP guns to shoot single stage paint on my old project truck.
Thanks in advance for your advice and opinions !!
My advice to you is get a conventional air spray gun with gravity feed (cup on top) and stay away from low cost HVLP guns if you don't have to use one. You can get a Sharpe Finex FX2000 for about $120. I spray in my garage and fought orange peel in my epoxy, primer and single stage urethane for about a year and purchased three HVLP spray guns trying to get coatings to spray on smooth and slick. Then I tried a friends old SATA RP2000. The RP is for reduced pressure. With that gun I sprayed my first slick no need to wet sand paint job.
I then purchased a conventional air cap for my DeVilbiss Finishline 3 HVLP spray gun and now it sprays great (the air cap was $40 and inlet pressure is now 35-45psi and air consumption is now about 9.4cfm). Yes you will have more overspray and you will have have to move faster when painting, but it is so nice to not have to wet sand everything you paint to get a smooth finish.
Thanks for the great advice ! I will look into the FX2000
