Hi Wild Bill,
I've found SEM high build flowable seam sealer to work very well in drip rails. It's also sandable, in case you get a rough spot that needs worked out some. It flows very smooth and I normally just go over it lightly with a red scotch brite prior to sealer and paint to insure adhesion. If memory serves correctly, the product # is 39777. Hope this helps Randy Ferguson Metalshaping & Kustom Paint www.metalmeet.com |

I use seam sealer also, there is always some in the shop.
Mask of where you don't want it, slick it down and remove the tape, then re slick the edge. Thanks for the replies. How much do you suspect of each it will take to seal the drip rails on my panel, it is a long wheel base, like an old suburban without the windows. I see the SEM requires and application gun, but seams to be made for this application. The 3m comes in a tube, but knowing how proud 3m is of their products, could become pricey when looking at all I have to cover, but I don't have to buy an application gun. I have experience working with Military grade sealers in the Marine Corps on helicopters and am fairly good at getting it smoothed and where I want it before it dries. Pro's and Con's with both brands. The deciding factor will probably be the final cost to do my truck. Thanks again, I knew I would find what I needed when I got on the site. I am looking forward to being a part of the site for a long time to come. After all, I've just started on my "new" truck.

LEAD
I have used LEAD in my old rails. Just heat and pour. Use a wooden dowel to push around. Doesn't seem to hurt the metal is you miss or splash. Just be careful. I have also worked with friends where we removed the rails. Kinda cool.
