What is this engine ?

I know I saw a guide to ID a Chevy engine on here but can't locate it when I need.The # is 3970014 and I bought it for it being a 350 ci.

it is a 350 but could be either a 2 or 4 bolt main.year 1970-1976

According to www.mortec.com its a:
3970014....350...70-76...2 or 4 bolt

Yes, but I think one of the charts also shows 68-69 hi-perf, as well as the later uses.

It "could" be a high performance engine but the BLOCK is the same. The piston/intake/head/carb selection is what makes the HP version of the engine, not the block itself.

most 350's ive seen with that casting# had a steel crank

I can't really say much else that anybody hasn't already said. But the 350 in my Blazer has this casting number, it's a two bolt main and has a cast crank.
