What an engine is it?

Just curious. Found this link absolutely unexpectedly. What's a engine on this Caddy?

Yeah, although I never though about Northstar as a good engine choice for ’59.

As far engine bay, I have a wild guess, that car just trailered around and not driven.

I love the northstars, modern sleeper motors. I want to see if I could shoehorn one of them into a 99-up Malibu, keep it front wheel drive and looking stock. That would be a crazy sleeper because I have never seen one of those with anything more than a 3.4 as a direct bolt-in from the stock 3.1 done to one of those granny cars.

elliot's project

elliot, do you really think you can fit a larger (definitely not the biggest v-8 gm has ever made, but large nontheless) engine in a smaller car? i think that would be super cool! and it would fit perfectley with the carbed 350 in the chevette idea that i'm gunna carry out this summer!

race u sometime

If I can't maybe one of the 3800 supercharged Buicks would do nicely.

I want to try a 500 Caddy in a Chevette. With enough cutting I think it would fit.

Been done, I have a magazine article somewhere on a junkyard build. I,m putting a 500 caddy in my 29 rpu.
I really like the look of those Northstar engines. Too bad they couldn't mount the alternator low.

elliot, ur nutz. i had a friend back in highschool (i just gradjumicated, now i can say that) who put a 440 sixpack into a gremlin x. the road could do whatever it wanted, but the aerodynamics on the gremlin meant it was only going to go straight. almostr killed himself speeding when the car went off of the road and rolled about a half-dozen times. i just don't wanna see that happen to another member of the hotrodding community.
