The quickest "stock" car that I have owned was my '01 Formula with the LS1/6spd combo. However, the fastest I've been in a car was my '99 Formula (same LS1/6spd combo). My brother and I were running down the interstate during daylight and no traffic in sight. We had the t-tops out and I have to say that at 135mph, it gets quite windy. It was struggling at that point probably due to all the drag. After that would probably be the ride home from Colorado when my dad bought his '63 Avanti back in '81. I remember seeing 120-125mph on a short stretch in Kansas and hearing "don't tell your mom."

Then there is my '98 Triumph Daytona. Although I've never raced it, they are supposed to be good for 10.7s in the quarter. I did get clocked at 110 in a 30 while being very, very stupid in an industrial park.

My buddy had a 65 Shelby GT 350R . I have driven it over 160mph. It would also do the quarter mile in high 12's. My Dodge Magnum RT with a lot of mods however would be close on its heels and with Superchips tune and eliminate speed control function enabled. Best quarter mile time 13.41.

SuthnCustoms reminded me

My uncle in Gainesville, GA had a black 69 Grand Prix SJ with 455 Super Duty and Turbo 400. I was too young to drive it but clearly remember going up Hwy. 365 in it - peering over the backseat, speedo buried and the 327 Camaro that started it disappearing out the back window. What a great nose and tail on that body, two thin red pinstripes all the way down it.

My buddy Zack had a two-tone grey '62 Gran Prix with a 389 and a 4 speed - Muncie shifter and floor mounted tach both came stock. That car would pull away from almost anything especially in the hills, and it cornered very well.

Thanks for the memories,

Jon

As far as stock cars go I hadn't really driven many fast ones (modified ones yes) until this spring when my dad bought his dream car a 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler, top loader 4 speed, factory drag pack. I was really impressed. He's been telling us about the one his buddy had in high school since we were kids. Well he finally bought it, and it is awesome. And I'm no ford guy whatsoever, but that car hauls.

I know it is nothing special, but I am young, and I loved it...

a 1998 Buick Regal GS, supercharged 3.8. Nice, everyday car, but it could certainly get me past some ricers.

Had a 1969 Olds Tornado with a 455 up to 140. Had my 2001 BMW 325Ci up to 130 before the computer shut her down. Have had my wifes 2001 Honda S2000 up to 125 but was in open range country and figured hitting a cow at that speed would be the end of me so I didn't push it to the 140+ that it is supposed to be capable of.

I don't know if the end result would be any different at 125

1958 chevy 348

Quickest car I drove was a 1958 black chevy 2 door with a 348 ci engine and four speed. Fast, Fast,Fast.
That was stock fast. But my 383/ 460 HP stroker in a 280 datson framed ferrari would blow the doors off it.

I have a customer who rents out exotic cars. I got to take a spin in a Hennessey Viper. Had it over a 100 and still had half the gears yet to go.

Fastest factory car I've ever driven was a BMW M3 because everything else I've ever owned or driven wasn't stock at all, unless you count the Roush Mustang a friend of mine let me drive, but that's a suped up Mustang so I don't know if that really counts as a factory car. Fastest car I've ever owned was a truck, 1985 Chevrolet Pickup SWB that had a blown 540ci in it.

Mostly stock 1994 corvette LT1 Six speed. I say mostly because I am not 100 percent sure what was done before I got it. It has a K&N air filter inside an open air filter housing, and flowmasters out the other end. Also have a receipt for the goodyear gatorbacks. But I am not sure if there are any internal engine or computer mods. I don't drive it near as fast as it will go.
