1986 Chevrolet Corvette 25,000 miles, white w/ red leather interior. I bought it from a lady school teacher and the car was in new condition. The only thing replaced was the Delco battery purchased from a GM dealer. It was very fun to drive. It hooked up wonderful and launched like a slingshot.

I drove my friend's '97 or '98 BMW M3 5spd. Very quick car, and shifted ridiculously smoothly too.

NO MORE !! and now our state has a $1,000 fine for any speed over 100 MPH, and a one year license suspension, and I am sure if you were involved in an accident, even if it was not your fault and someone was injured or died you would spend a few years at the least with free room and board at a state run facility........

past life/going fast

I think "handsome harv' is missing the point of this thread. Most of have broke speed limits befor, and mabey drive 5-10 over all the time. The gov. can pass all the laws they want, but somewere/sometime someone will let it hang all the way out .Fools are the problem no matter what speed you go. [Yes, I peged my 89LX 5.0 in eastern Or. back when I was younger}.It would do 140mph+ in the top end floored.

Fastest car driven

I agree with Handsome Harv (whether or not he's handsome is another question). Its just too risky to run very fast on the street. You could get shot by a sore looser! That's why I do most of my 100+ speeding on the track.

My 5509

One of the reasons I sold my 55 chev was it would do 100mph on a freeway ramp entering.I felt that I could hear cops coming from all points of the compass.I still say there is no shortage of fools that will.

Fastest?

I drove a new Dodge Viper black roadster. It was the first year for black... 1993 ?

1970 Pantera, the Geneva show car that was special prepped for the show with a warmed up motor.

Various LS6 Chevelle & Corvette, ZL-1 Camaro #66, Hemi cars, Stage 1 Buicks, W-30 cars.

Each was a different type of 'fast'

Not the quickest but the fastest was 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie 500, 390ci, standard with overdrive. Passed my buddys Vette (4.56 gear) and pointed to the gearshift. I had it in 2nd and overdrive. It would bump the speedometer needle so hard it would bounce back to 15mph. A little slower in 3rd.

Fastest car I ever drove

My dads Dodge Stealth was very fast on the top end. I once took a sales man on a ride from Portland Oregon to BainBridge Washington to look at a car wash. We left around 5:00 in the morning and not much was on the freeway. He asked, just how fast was this car, I down shifted and away we went. Tacked out in 4th I shifted into 5th and looked at the speedo at 135. I let off and coasted back to the speed limit. He kept saying go faster!! Next rise in the road was a Washington State trooper. If I had keeped on it I'd still be in jail. "Grandpaw's 57" sold me his '55 409 and I can tell you all that it still gets with the program.
