What was the first year for hardened valve seats on chevy six.

I have a 72 ventura with a stock inline six (chevy) I was just wondering when they got hardened valve seats, anyone know?

From what I've heard, they began induction-hardening the exhaust seats when they dropped the compression ratios in anticipation of lead-free gas requirements. The CR drop occured with the introduction of the 1971 model year.

Thanks jimfulco, I thought it was around that time, but as I remember it wasn't done on everything all at once and I was wondering if anyone knew about the 230 six specifically. Feels strange that I'm trying to preserve a six, but I like this car the way it is. especially with todays gas prices.
