Well, it looks like 10 people looked at my post but couldn't answer. I did some digging on a dozen websites and made several long distance calls, here's what I found...
The front hubs/drums of 48 to early 60s F1/F100 will fit on a 52 Ford F1 front spindle. But, they have to be a hub and drum set, you cannot mix-n-match a hub from one year to a drum from another, or from model to another (F100 hub, F250 drum). The fit of hub to the spindle is determined by the wheel bearings. |

Just a question from an old hotrodder who is a tad confused. I was under the impression that all of the Ford half ton pickups from 1940 on up had a 5x5-1/2 bolt circle. The 5x 4-1/2 was the passenger car pattern after 1949.
The 4 bolt pattern didn't show up untill the 6 cyl Falcons in 1960. 4 bolt disk brakes would be Pinto or mustang II. It looks as if someone had done a swap earlier. Almost all Fords use the same outer wheel bearing and the inner probably wouldn't be that hard to match up. |
