What Gauge Sheet Metal ?

Hi Everyone

Need some help on this one fellowers. If you will please.

I'm about to get into mig welding on my '66 Ford Mustang.

I'll be mig welding new sheet metal to the floor and some frame work also.

Problem is ~ I DIDN'T KNOW THE GAUGE OF THE SHEET METAL ON MY CAR

Could it be 22 gauge or 24,26

Can you guys give me some help on this one please

Also need help with some sandblasting questions but I'll leave that for another posting.

I would try to pick up some 18-20 gauge to make patch panels on the exterior, but as far as patching up some floor panels...I would probably go with some 16 gauge.

I agree on some oleder vehicles 50 F1 sheet metal outside is 19 gauge and I will use 16 for the flooring. Ed ke6bnl

be kind to your self and make a better looking stronger repair.....

all the floor panels parts are cheap enough from any of the Mustang resto-parts houses,

use those to cut your patches from or better, install complete

let me guess....your toe boards are shot....19ga very well made in the usa (American Designers brand) complete panel=$33.....front floor section$30.....full length floor F&R...$60

just type: 1966 Mustang parts into goooogle to find a bunch of parts houses

mustangsunlimited.com does have their full catalog online
