I was just wodering is there such a thing as a in between gear. What gear can be used as a 1/4 mile gear and 1/8 mile gear. The reason why I asked is that all the local tracks are 1/8 mile long but I really want a good 1/4 mile car. But I still want to compete with some of the locals guys. So what do you guys think are recommend?
It's a 1986 Monte Carlo SS with a 496ci. making about 700hp. With a th400 trans and a 3500 stall converter. My tire size will be P315/35/R17 drag radial street slicks!I plan on using a ford 9 inch rear end but I haven't decided on the gear ratio yet. Some where between 3.70, 3.89, 4.10.
Get 2 pumpkins for the rear end, put the 4.10s' in one for the 1/4 mile and get some 4.88s' or 5.10s' for the 1/8 mile. You can get pretty quick at changing them even at trackside, (an hour or less).
