What gear lube
I have a 46 ford and need to know what lubrication is used for the u-joint at the rear of the transmission.

Regular old chassis grease.
 If you are still running the closed driveshaft, you will have to move the rear end back after removing the 'bell' cover at the front of the torque tube to get to the 'U' joint. Lot's of work. Be sure to support the car well when doing this.

Thanks Frisco The engine is not installed . Do I pack the cavity full of grease?
