what grit of paper to use between clears
Hello, ive just gotten 3 coats of clear on my project last night. I would like to put on another 3 coats. Was wondering what grit to use to scuff it down. Thank you for your time.

are you going to wet sand or sand with a da? With a da I would use 1200. if I were to wet sand maybe 1000 or if you feel brave 600-800.

800-1000 and you will be good,We have sanded blend panels up to 1500 with no adhesion problems at all

ok thanks. i will be wet sanding it. I have heard to polish it you start with 600 and work your way up to 2500. so the 600 would be to much just for between the 3 coats of clear?

As for colorsanding after, depends what kind of finish you are looking for. Are you looking for a super flat, perfect show finish or just a very nice paint job? If you want it dead perfect flat, start with 600 and work your way up. I did mine and was able to just use 1500/ 2000 then buff... but it all depends on what you are looking for. With 6 coats of clear you will have enough material to do what you want. |
