I am resoring an 85 iroc and I am sanding the car down to bare metal. I have never done any body work only engine work, so I need to know what grit of sandpaper to start with and go thru the process wet sanding the car down. Also what grit should I use on the nose cone. Any info will be a welcome.
Do not ue any harsher grit than 120 on the nosecone. 80 grit should work on the body to get the layers of paint off and use 100 gritt after you reach the first coat of primer. You can look in the Knowledge base for more help on this subject.
I would also recoment a chemical stripper instead of sanding on the main steel body. Its much easier and faster. I recomend the stripper sold by POR-15, I have had good results with this product.
