Post What heads do I have? They have two Pyramids on them?

Mine apparently are not "Camel Heads" but instead, have two PYRAMIDS in place of the camel humps.

This is the info that I pulled off my heads..

GM "1"
399897
A-2-73
"T"
CONV-4

I have no idea what this means... the heads are currently on a 1974 350 4-bolt from an Impala Police Car. I found that whole set-up from a 1976 Camaro that I ended up junking (body was way too badly rusted) and now it sits in my garage waiting to be dropped into an 81 TransAm.

Any idea what I have?

Todd

The closest I could find was casting # 3998997 which is listed to a '72 400 engine with 1.94 & 1.5 valves. Do these heads have steam holes? Do they have bolt holes in the ends? If so, they're probably 76cc open chambers.

I forgot to add that the double "pyramid", at least by my meager references, came on castings #415, #545, and #493, which came on 267, 350, and 400 engines, respectively. I don't know what symbol the #997 had. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

I think the old "power pack" heads had a block w/ a pyramid on it(were the double humps would be).Google search the last three #s Ex."GM #897 heads".I've found tons of info when I search for some heads I had.
Personally I would say if they got 1.94+ valve and no accesory holes there probably desent flowing heads cause their pre smog.

Cool

Try WWW.Mortec.com for the casting number list. They have lists for heads, blocks, and trannys.
