the cam is too big for either set of heads, you'll need some fulie style heads at the very least, for that much cam to work properly you will need big ports and hi compression and race gas,my suggestion get a smaller cam

Are your pistons flat tops or dished? A 58cc head with flat tops is going to push you to about 10:1 compression...or more! Iron heads probably max out in the high 9s in that generation engine. I'm guessing that a 70cc head would put you in the lower 9s. I also agree that that cam seems to be a bit much. Good luck.

I'd put the 58cc 305s w/ dished you should have around 9.5:1 With flat tops i'd use the 70cc w/ thin gaskets, that would be approx 9.1:1
Ditch the jumbo cam. It'll probably be nothing more than a sound effect w/ low comp and small valves. You would also need one unstreetable torque converter like 4000stall.

Use a cam in the area of 224@.050 .480lift.

Instead of either of your choices I would go with a world products s/r torquer with 64 ccs and 202 intakes, a performer rpm cam and rpm intake and a 750 vacume secondary holley tha t will make it run like a '70 lt1 and be very dependable

i would listen to these guys. too bigga cam for the heads you got. i would use the heads with the biggest intake valves and cam it accordingly so you could use pump gas, which means 10:1 max and 292 duration cam max., if you have at least 194's.
