What Intake Should I Use
OK fellas this is the situation. i have a 350 vortec crate . i have on it a gm high rise intake on it know. i swapped the heads for a set of aluminum vortec fast burn's. i have a Vic Jr sitting in my garage. would it be wise to put it on in place of the high rise. will it hurt me or help me.

It`s recommeded you only use a vortec style intake that has the unique 8 bolt vortec pattern. If you attempt to drill the heads to the old style 12 bolt pattern the intake ports won`t line up real well.

the both intakes that i have are for vortec heads.

but ( so you know ) the fast burn heads have prevision's for both style intakes. i found that out when i got them.

but the Vic Jr i have is for vortec heads. i got it because i was going to have my original steel heads ported out and i thought i would get away with it. now Worth the fast burn heasd they have bigger valves and 3 angle valve job so they flow better so i wa hoping i could use it.

Your choice of intake really depends on how you plan to drive. I assume the GM intake is a dual plane and if you intend to drive mainly on the street it's probably the better choice. On the other hand if you plan on drag racing and the engine is mainly going to see high RPM's then I'd go with the Victor jr since it's a single plane.

I would use the dual plane. It matches all of your parts much better than the victor jr. You would gain a few hp on the top end wtih the victor, but loose some low end power. As you see in the article below, switching bewteen the two, the single plane intake only makes more power from 5000-5600 RPM. On the street, you will probably want that extra low end grunt to get the car moving.
