What kills rust?

What kills(stops) rust?I found 2 small pencil size holes of rust on my rocker panel.I dug out the rust(as much as I could).I don't want to go crazy digging it out.Is there anything I can put on it to stop it before I fill it.Are there other fillers out there besides bondo? Here is a pic of my car..thats why I don't want to go crazy

The only way I know to truely "kill" rust is to starve it. Take away the metal from it.

Nice looking car. I would hate to see rust take over on it. In science, rust is part of the rabbit family. It multiplies very fast, and hides well. Since GM cars had a habbit of rusting from the inside out, you may have more than you can see.

I agree on both counts, it is a beautiful car and it is likely coming from inside. How does the back side of the rockers look? Are the drain holes clear?

Your gonna have to get it from behind. The rust appearing on the outside is just a symptom of more serious rust on the backside.
