What kind of cam should I use?

Hey everyone again so Ive decided not to put a tunnel ram on my 305 insted I just want to put a cam in it, some headers, and an intake and call it good. But I know nothing about cams. I know I want a lopey cam but not one that sounds like the trucks about to die kind of lope. My 305 is completely stock and the intake I am putting on is a edelbrock performer. and the exhaust will be 2 1/2 inch.

I would get the cam that comes with a really well ported set of heads or aftermarket ones. Also get the intake that comes with increased compression.

What, you don't like a 3/4 cam? LOL

Keep the cam small, no more than 214 @ .050 w/ a wide LSA. Find the smallest tube (diameter) headers you can and a dual plane intake with a small (500-600cfm) carb

You could always make a post, about every third day, saying something like, NEW!!! RuMpItYy RuMp CaM for all your camshaft needs and then spec out some monster lift/major duration/major intensity, data for a 7.5:1 Kerosene (jet) fueled small block.
That, or just tell 'em to get one that is 'lumpy'.

Now Now...think happy thoughts,,, happy thoughts. Thats right breath in, breath out. Happy thoughts of your childhood.

Lots of people are not particularly interested in actually making their car fast, but are after that hot cammed up motor sound.

There will be another alone along any minute.

I dont know but I think the exaust is a little big also 2" would probably suffice for a 305,I would shave the heads a few cc and run a smaller cam

All joking aside, I guess I might be the only one who doesnt understand wanting a crappy idle while all the time not wanting that pesky added power.
