Question what kind of car is this?

this is my first message so bare w/ me. My friends dad just passed away and he has numerous 60's vehicles sitting around in fields barns and what not, and they seem to be sturdy except bodies are rough. Anyway there is a car that we don't know what it is and no one else seems to. From what i have saw, its a 1966, on the side front quarter panel its has 2 flags crossing and it says turbo jet, 396, its a chevy. the grill has SS on it, the title just says super sport. the rear end is flat and at the sides of the car the tail lights bend out on the back. No one thinks it's a chevelle, someone said nova, but no one seems to know. Any help? Worth restoring?

Any SS is worth restoring especially a 396 (if thats actually what's in the car). However to identify exactly what it is a picture would be worth a thousand words.

It kinda sounds like one of the Chevy II SS's. Has kind of a boxy/square front and rear. If thats what it is heck yes its worth restoring.

My guess also for the '66 Chevelle. Check this for the SS's. Also where are you located? Is he going to part out any or all of these cars? Can you snap and post some pics?

i found out

Thanks for your help, I found it is a 66 chevelle. my friend also has a 2 other chevelles in a field 2 impalas a tempest and some other 60's cars. his dad died and all these cars just sit in a field. his dad had lots of money and just bought cars back in the day and drove them and let them sit. now someone is taking there 200 acres and letting them have an acre and a half. They have to find all the cars he hid in the woods and field or they will loose them. they are all original exept body rust is on them and they all need restored except one. If the try to get rid of some i'll post some pics on here for people.

Kevin45 and mdreamer I also would like to know what part of Ohio these cars are at also. Being primarily a Pontiac man I'm interested in any 60's muscle and would love to get my hands on that 66 SS Chevelle, also the Tempest. I may be making a run up to the Buckeye state sometime in the next few months to see some friends and family up there, being as I'm orginally from Ohio, and was a fixture at National Trails for years before moving south. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hey G Goat, can I interest you in a 67 Tempest wagon? Makes a fine GTO wagon clone! I send you a shot if you would like.

Hey Madd, yeah I'm interested but the wife is going to have to like it, the next project is going to be for her and she has her heart set on a 69 GTO but I may be able to convince her and I'd have to sell her Grand Prix.

my location

the location of these cars a in between the bigger cities of canton, and mansfield ohio. those are about the closest big name cities. closesest to wooster if anyone has ever heard of that. i am not sure when they are getting rid of these cars. They said they let me know before hand that way that don't just put them up for auction. They have to move all these vehicles to another area since all there land is being taken away so that'll be fun for them.
