What to look for chevy ii

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and joined because this is the most complete forum I found.

Question
I' m about to trade for a 1965 chevy ii nova, wanted to know what faults should I look for more specifically what places on the car are the most affected by its age. It has a 230 engine, runs great, floors and trunk are in great shape.

Any suggestion on what else to inspect.

Thanks in advance.
JoePR

up time

Get it up on a hoist and look for and rust areas or recent coating of goo-undercoat. poke with a screw driver looking for rust thru or poke thru areas then the general safety check, hoses, brake lines fuel lines, exhaust. etc.

I would check the inner rockers, floor pans from the bottom, etc As stated, any new undercoating or paint may be a cause for concern. If the car has been recently painted and you are concerned, you can buy a thickness gauge pretty reasonable to check it out a little bit (a small magnet will also serve the purpose, just don't drag it on the paint or it will scratch it)

The front ends in ChevyIIs are weak and should be checked closely.Inspect around the shock towers. I would also look around the leaf spring perches.Front lower control arms bend easily. The cars steering is poor and the handling is poor. Brakes are fair at best. fun cars, but they need tlc
