I would definitely not be considering a piston type compressor for continuous duty. A vane type compressor would be needed in that application. They are made similar to a roots blower. Look here :

HUGE - we had a 2-1/2 ton army truck hauling a Joy 250 cfm compressor and run by a 75-100 Hp gas engine. Now, I suggest you relook at that CFM needs
