Depends on many factors. Push rod length, cam base circle, seat in lifter, deck and head height +.
I always check the clearance with a paper clip. Inserted between the stud and rocker at full lift. |

long slot, should be fine at .550" if geometry correct. If you need a little more get the carbide burr out. Check with a couple solid lifters if your using a hydraulic.

I used long slot rockers with a cam with .557" lift on the exhaust side.
As stated above you cannot take this as the holy grail. Cam lobe base circle diameter, pushrod length and block, head architecture all play a factor. Mock it up and check for rocker-stud clearanced at full lift. .550" lift is pushing it for this stamped steel ball stud rocker design on a SBC. Summit-house branded/Scorpion roller rockers are a great deal. |
