what is the most popular shade of orange for flames?

I know orange flames have been done in just about every shade but what is a good looking flame orange.
Another question are any of you mixing your own shades, I had the bright idea to make my own orange from yellow and red.
Seemed like simple kindergarten stuff but when I mixed them, I never could come up with a vibrant orange.
They all seemed to lack a true bright orange.
I used a bright yellow and red used on dodge vipers.
I know allot of other colors are added to make the viper yellow and red, but i did expect better results.

thanks dave

Depends on if your doing the whole flame or a multi color fade.

If I'm doing a solid color I like something along the lines of light Tangerine.

If I'm doing a red, orange, yellow, I like a darker orange say Hugger or Vitamin C and fade my red/orange orange/yellow to lighten it up as I fade into the next color.
One of the nicest orange's I've seen was in a spray can, It was a farm enamel and I believe it was International Harvester Orange. Looked JUST like a beautiful orange on a tree in the sunlight. Just the right mix of orange and yellow. Go figure...

Bee4me,
I was thinking of a brighter or more yellowish orange for the base with the edges being air brushed a darker orange.
I am using HOK Tangerine for the main color of the bike so I am not sure exactly what shade will complement it.(reason I tried to mix my own shades)
I have thought about looking at the spray can colors to use on my test panel then match it at the paint store if I like it.
I was just trying to see if there is a shade most everyone is using because of how good it looks.

Thanks Dave
