What not to do...

I just went and got gas in my parent's 2004 F-250 XLT and decided now that it's broken in, I'll test it out a little bit. It has the V-10 (**** as s engine though, 305 hp, but 425 lb ft. torque) with auto tranny and 3.73 posi rear-end.

So, I'm on this back road coming home and decide to come to a complete stop and see if it'll peel out... Absolutely not, horrible takeoff all in all. So I come up around the turn and floor it and got the back right tire spinning pretty nicely, but still wasn't satisfied with it, I wanted to see two tire marks you know, it's a BIG ***** engine, it should do better.

So I'm right in front of our house (on the road, still about 1/4 mile from the driveway and the house is about 1 mile off the road, so technically I was in front of my field) and decide to powerbrake it, well, it sucked because it's got 4 wheel disc brakes... I held the brakes down as hard as I could, put it into low 1, and floored it like I was kicking my arch enemy and powerbraked the sh1t out of it all the way to the driveway. This is where the good part comes in, my parents were down at the end of the driveway watching me the entire time

Nor should you push your mom's '68 Bonneville (which you are not allowed to drive) out of the driveway at 2am, blow all the carbon out with multiple WOT blasts (that's good for it, you know), backfire it until the muffler blows out, then cut the engine 3 doors from home so nobody'll hear you come in at 4am with the muffler gone, except for your dad who's loading the pirogue into the back of the truck at 4am fixing to go fishing. Speaking of pushing outta the driveway.
I can remember one night at around 1am I didn't wanna fire my car in the driveway cause it was brutal loud and I'd get caught.Well my mom walks out to watch as the car got away from me and I'm trying to catch it befor it went into the ditch on the other side of the road.LOL
I believe she said something like...Sam,WTF are you doing?!?!?
I've got a million of these I was smart a few years ago.

Maybe you should try and install a posi unit first lol.

Kind of odd that a 250 would have posi trac?

I remember being 17 (i think) and just getting a 69 SS396 chevelle. It needed a clutch, so i installed one the same weekend and me and a buddy went for a test drive. Well my dad was standing on the front porch the exact same place that i speed shifted into 2nd.......

The funny thing was i stayed away from the house as long as i could and when i did go home he never said a word to me about it..... I guess he knew me thinking about it all night ruined all my fun anyway!!!!!!

When my moms car broke down once when I was like 19 and she had to take the monte to work it was a lil difficult explaining to her.
1)why she had to shift an automatic
2)The importance of turning slow w/ welded spider gears lol
3)how to tell her speed by the tach

Three things that went over like a fart in church.

The neighbors used to complain to my mom when I was 17.....
Now that I'm 50....they compalin to my wife. Some of us just never grow up. The difference is that it is now my money, and my tires...not Mom's.

Cell???? We didn't have any stinking cells back in the late 70's early 80's. We had to use pay phones lol

A buddy of mine and I used to sneak (push) his mom's 69 Pontiac Tempest down the road for a fun run. That car was a POS and had four bald tires and leaked oil like a sift. I can remember him flooring the car on narrow two lane country roads. We almost died several times in that car. I guess the good lord has plans for me so he didn't take me then. Either that or he is afraid of me ripping up the streets of heaven when I sneak his ride down the street

Sneaking in late is the reason I only put 2,000 miles on my 55 Ford in the 5 months that I drove it. I would coast 1/2 mile down the road and into the driveway. Get out of the car and sneak up to the house only to be greeted by a mad Dad. I would be grounded another 2 weeks.

It wasn't until I was almost 18 that I finally figured out the fine art of sneaking in the house. I had a loud 68 Galaxie 2 door fastback. I would roar down the road, pull in the driveway, rev it up a couple of times before I shut it off, get out and slam the door, slam the door on the house and stomp up to my room making all kinds of noise. Dad would ask me the next morning, "what time did you get in last night." He would sleep right through the noise.

interesting.....waking up to no noise and sleeping through lots.....you trained your parents well.
I remember many a night coming home in "stealth" mode.

I guess if I am to be prudent to the younger crowd reading here, once a rodder, always a rodder....but the difference in age tells ya to go fast in "safe" zones...not school zones, neighborhood streets etc. Be safe, and we will all get a better rap. If you want to spin your tires and get instant acceleration...do it on the on-ramp to the freeway...not the stop sign next to your house...etc.

It's tough getting old...but the wisdom that comes along with age is probably worth it.

Not to be a PITA but why are you bagging on someone elses vehicle? Are you paying for the excess wear and tear or when it breaks and the warranty claim is denied due to being abused?
