what oil ( how long)

What oil should i use in my camaro (in your opinion)
Im trying to get 500hp so i can run in the 11second zone then put nos.
How often should i change the oil, becouse it will never make it to 3000 miles.
Should i change it every 20 or 30 miles?
I curently use valvoline 30w or 15-40
I realize my motor isnt going to have a long life race cars never do but 15-40 is a good long life oil and 30w is old school as i have herd so do i go to castrol full sinthetic and realy thin (plus my oil presser is always to high)
I have herd good things about royal purple or a cheaper oil like castrol but in our hotrods most dont drive them if they are realy radical, so what about a hp chart for 300 hp 400hp &500 hp on up to 700 hp. oil intervals and such.

please tell me what you think
and thanks

Why do you think a 500hp motor is going to need oil changes every 30-40 miles? Id still do 3months/3000 miles on dino, and two to three times that distance/time for synthetic.

Most people around here use 5-30 or 10-30 for engines 100-600+hp. I say most, not all.

Can you explain a bit clearer your reasoning behind your thoughts?

oil change

I use 20-50 Penzoil or QS. I change my oil twice a season. If you use synthetic. You can make a whole season without changing the oil. Your motor will last for years unless you are using a high roller and tranny brake. Then it is advisable to refresh every 500 passes.

well guys i read some place that on a race car you would want to change the oil every 35 miles. well yes my engine will only see 100 or 200 miles in a year
but that is alot of oil to just throw away.

curently i cant even drive it with it in its current state.

So for a race car you recommend 5/30 or 10/30

What about when you brake in your new engine(cam lifters) what oil do you recomend.

I hear that back in the 70s everyone ran 30w oil (another magazine)

My camaro see's 7000 and 8000 every time it is taken out.

But just like the engine in it has 150 miles (mabe) and it lost compretion.

So what i say that block was junk anyway so lets build another(right)

and use a 350 BLOCK THIS TIME!

I think that this block is just too thin (besides that is what the machine shop said)

It over heats, it lost oil press, lost compretion and now it is already getting pretty worn

thanks yall, chris
