Hey guys,

I've got my '66 Malibu completely disassembled and know of a few things that need to be done like; the panel in between deck lid and rear windshield, and half of the passenger side floorpan. Other than those definites I'm not sure what other dangers lurk beneath on the metal.

Would it be better to do the replacement / welding I know for sure I need to do before stripping the car and epoxy priming, or should I get the car stripped & epoxied 1st and then do my metal work?

If it were me I would have the entire car stipped, that way you have a solid idea of what you are facing. It is far easier to form a plan of action when you have a good understanding of the job ahead.

I agree with 302/z28, strip it and see what you have. If you have a dry shop to work in, you can probably wait to epoxy until all your metal work is done. Maybe someone familiar with your climate can tell you if surface rust on naked metal is problem in your area.

yeah i agree...bare metal...then go at it. My car has been sitting in my garage with bare metal for months and not one spec of surface rust here in California.
