The piece below the Cooler lines would be the Detent/Passing gear cable. Connects to the Carb linkage. They're normally Black tho'.
Any Auto parts store should be able to get you one. |

Ok thanks. Just want to make sure since the color is different
In this pic, it's behind the bottom fitting, going in at an angle, right about where the dip stick is. Still the passing cable? Is this also known as the kickdown cable?

tv cable
that is what is known as throttle valve cable !! more commonly as kick down cable !! be carefull with adjustment because also helps control up shift working with vacum modulater routing is key cable must work freely !!

modulater
also loose all that rubber hose on vaccum modulater !! take the time to bend a piece of brake line and mount with as little rubber hose as possible!! modulater is picky on vaccum supply !! have run into probs with too much rubber hose !! will get you home but not good for permenant install!!

TH350 uses a Detent cable, only controls passing gear or kickdown. Can be eliminated but, downshifts will be manual only. |

I've found that when putting a B&M shift kit in a TH350 (street strip mode) that leaving the cable disconnected provides a crisper 2-3 up-shift. Never cared much for full throttle auto down shift anyway.

your statement is only 2/3 corecct on 350/400.a powerglide does not get any shift timing from the modulator it controls line pressure only.shift points are from throttle linkage similiar to a chrysler 727.you can plug the modulator and it will still shift at same speed
