What potential does a set of 14102193 heads have?

I have a set of heads (14102193) i just pulled off my 89 Chevy 350 TBI, and i was curious if anybody knew what kind of potential these heads might have with some porting?

Depends on what your idea of potential is. With partial removal of the swirl ramp, bowl work and in the exhaust port I could see them giving results that would probably be competitive with a set of stock vortecs at street rpms.

I'd suggest searching the username "Fast355" over on the Thirdgen.org message board. He is practically "Mr.TBI heads".

currently I'm just looking for a little more power because I can't afford to buy a new set of heads. My only option is to reuse these heads right now, but they need completely rebuilt, as they came out of the engine I'm rebuilding that ran strong to 200,000 miles, so i figured i might as well get some work done on them while there apart. But thank you, I'll check him out.

what would you think the cost difference would be if you compared the price of a set of stock vortec heads ($600) vs. rebuilding and porting my current heads?

The difference in cost will be very close. If you're willing to spend a couple bucks, a set of brand new vortecs will put you light years ahead of your swirlports.

X2^^.
And Aftermarket Vortecs are an even better choice. RHS brand etc..
The have thick castings, better cooling, machined for more lift etc... for slightly more $$ than factory/OEM GM Vortecs.
