What is the preferred vinyl for interiors?

What is the best and stretchiest type of vinyl for doing intricate designs on a door panel?. I prefer something that is decent quality but not cost a fortune like real leather. What are some good options?. Thanks!

You have to shop around. There are many manufacturers and many qualities. For "Stretchability" the secret is in the backing material on the vinyl. Avoid "drill back" or course woven industrial backings. Look for "elastic back" or the newer spray on backings. Look for soft face textures and "breathable" materials.

You really need to go to an upholstery shop and look at samples. Then you want to check the specs to see if it is 2 way stretch or 4 way stretch. There are very few that are 4-way, but there are some available. Ultraleather is nice to work with as is Infiniss , Dove, and Magnificent. Those are all 100% polyurethane. Those are also the most expensive. Others like Atmosphere, Perfection, Rave, and Naugaleather (which are vinyls) are nice to work with and are less expensive than the polyurethanes.

I've run into good luck using Allante/Carrera vinyls, too. It's relatively inexpensive, but looks nice. The Ultaleather is great for doing embossing and indentations in panels. Another option to consider is AllSport. It's 4-way stretch, and can conform to about any molding. THe colors are limited, however, and it has a more "vinyly" look to it than the faux leathers.
