What primer should I use for my vinyl job?
Hello
A while back I started sanding my car down to bare metal. I planned on sanding everything down and following up with some etch primer, filler, 2k primer, base coat, etc.... Kinda have a change of plans now. I will be wrapping the entire care with 3m carbon fiber vinyl. So with that I don't know what to do as far as paint. I'm sure it's not a good idea to put the vinyl over bare metal, but I don't know if I should be using epoxy primer and 2k primer to prep the surface for wrapping when I can possibly go with some less expensive. Would it be okay to use some body filler and cover the body up with some premixed duplicolor primer from autozone? Essentially I need to prep a bare metal surface for vinyl wrapping. Not really looking to spend a ton of money on primer paints but at the same time I don't want to do a half a$$ed job. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be doing the vinyl job on a Datsun 280z by the way :) |
Do your body filler and then use a Good quality epoxy primer and you should be fine. Rattle can does not produce enough film build.
