Post what rear?

so i have a somewhat stock 69 falcon with a auto on the column shifter--so i am guessing its a c4 tranny? anyway two things--i want to get a rear at the junkyard to give my car some more oomph what car can i get them off of and what years--also i am interested in putting in a auto stick on the floor--is this hard to do--you know one of those sticks where the clutch is the lever (b&m) anyway the rear end question is the more important one--cause im going to the junkyard tomorrow and i need to know--so am i looking for a 8 inch ford or a 9 inch--i just need to know what will fit

There were NO 9 inch rears installed by FOMOCO into 69 Falcons I am told. To check your car........if you can put a socket on the bottom center section bolts.....it is a 8 incher.

This has been mentioned many times here in previous post. It is a old junk yard trick.

This is a 9 inch, 31 spline, Detroit Locker with 3.50 gears.

Some folks believe you can tell spline count by looking at the ends of the axle where the brake drums go. I have read this also on the Web. I have found it is not 100 percent accurate.

Ford spring perch width was standard from the nid fifties until they went coils on everything. You probably have a intregal carrier if it was a six (has 4 bolts on the wheel). An 8" while not as strong as a 9" will give you more than you have but not quite enough for a stout big-block. Any early Fairlane ('64-70), '67-70 'stang/Cougar will fit as will the 8" from an MII, Granada/Monarchs(and the disc braked Versailles. All those should get you tires that stay under the fenders, late '50's early '60's big Ford rears will bolt in also if there is a source in your area.
