Take a look at this site. It should help you figure it out.

8.2 ring gear. Drop out center section. "Looks" the same as 55-64 full size passenger cars but the internals are smaller and won't hold up to much abuse. Dutchman and others will make 4 and 5 bolt axles and you can replace the 3rd member with the full size units; that's what I did with my 63' Chevy II Wagon sleeper; 327, Powerglide w/ converter, 4.88:1 posi. It was a real fun car but the brakes were the downside. The final answer to your question: Hotchkiss I believe. BUTCH.

Go to Bruneauperformance.ca (it's a Canadian site); you'll have to hunt around a bit; but he sells stuff to beef up these rears to take some abuse, and even makes a full spool for them.Dutchman will make the axles for the little Chevy II rears. I'd personally shoot for more like 400 Hp; in a little Chevy II it'll be more than enough! But, it's your car. BUTCH.
