Hi,
I plan on using a T-10 4 speed in my 34 Ford pickup. When I measure where the shifter would come up through the floor it is way back in or nearly in the seat area. I emailed Hurst over a month ago to find out what shifters would work or what part numbers move the stick the furthest forward...of course no reply since you can't get that info from a parts list or spread sheet. Just from surfing the internet it seems like my best option is to use a 50's - 60's shifter for a car that has a bench seat and modify the shift handle from there. Can any one tell me what is the hot set up for an T-10 or Muncie 4 speed stick shift trans in 32-34 fords?

I think you may be stuck if you use a T-10. A couple of friends have them in '32s and have the seats modified to accommodate a shifter. My recollection on a couple of oldies I had 'way back then' was that the tranny had bosses cast in the side and that locates the shifter - with no real back and forth adjustment. Of course you can modify a shift lever but probably would look like ....... crap and would still interfere.

If I was using a Muncie 4 speed would that allow for more movement of the shifter? I did look over my T-10 transmission housing and with some modification I could move the shift mechanism forward a few inches but that also would involve shifter rod mods. Maybe a better way to approach this is what stick shift transmissions do work out well for 32-34 Fords and can handle 400 / 400 hp / tq.

Tremec TR 3550 TKO's allow you to put the shifter 3 different places and handle 425lb ft of torque. Take a look at this web site.

Not sure I'd even fool around with a Muncie or B-W T10 with Tremec's as an option
