what should be a good brake line pressure

I still have issues with my Ford Expedition taking forever to stop, have already done mostly everything, I'm thinking of measuring the fluid pressure at the calipers front and rear to make sure they are getting enough pressure, I suspect they are not.

what pressure should I expect? I read somewhere that 1.200 psi should be enough, is this true?

thanks.

Typical brake line pressures during a stop range from less than 800psi under "normal" conditions, to as much as 2000psi in a maximum effort. Line pressure can only be increased by either increasing the mechanical pedal ratio or by decreasing the master cylinder piston diameter. In either case the pedal travel will be increased.
Your braking system is no better than your tires and suspension but good quality brake pads/shoes are a must also.

the thing is that after so many tests this expedition still has very bad braking, it's simply dangerous and I can't find the problem, it's got new Ford pads and rotors, the ABS was tested by the ford dealer who also cycled the valves to see if one was sticking, but same thing, I'm suspecting some sort of restriction somewhere, even at the abs unit itself, so I think a pressure test should be done

I have considered using a smaller master cylinder but this truck has some odd 18mm fittings that no other car/truck seems to have, I wanted to use one from a explorer but didn't fit, sure I'll find a way if I must but I want to test the pressure as a final resource.
