what should the rpm be @ idle?

i have a 350 .60 over FT pistons, a comp 280H mag flat tappet cam 230/230 480"/480", runing 10 to 1 CR....fixn to install a 3500 stall...YAH... thanx

I like to keep the idle up to about 1000 rpm in park, drop to about 900 in gear.

Rpm

Yeah, 900 to 1000 in neutral, if too fast when you drop it in gear, just lower the RPM a shade more.

Funny how we all have different ways of doing stuff... I usually set it at 800 in gear which ends up being ~900 in neutral.. I dont think there is any real right or wrong answer as long as you aren't set so high the trans cries for momma every time you put it in gear.
