We "heard" the term a lot, but as non-Chevy people, we never paid much attention to it. "We" had McKellar cams... (McKellar #10 was the "real deal" 421SD cam) I too, haven't heard the term used in MANY years.

Thats good P-body

I have an old book here from 1950 that mentions reground 3/4 cams for sale in one of the ads for a flat head Ford but there are no specs! Im looking through my old pocket hot rod mags looking for an article on the 3/4! LOL if I find one I'll post it

Until Crane Cams closed up before the restructuring a couple years ago, these cams were listed as 3/4 race cams on their website.

1950?? Wow. That might indicate somebody like Chet Herbert or Racer Brown came up with it... My first professor (Red Lund) ran a Herbert roller in his T/F '32 roadster in the early days ('54, '55) with the 239 L-head Ford. I once had a Racer Brown solid roller for a 421. Chet ground the cam (nice guy, BTW), Brown supplied the lifters. They had "skirts" on each side to keep them "straight" on the lobe, circa 1960... Funny stuff today.

Back in grade school I remember a couple of brothers, older than me, they would bring a J C Whitney book on the bus and it had 3/4, and Full race cams listed in their book. One brother had a old 55 chevy and I can't remember what the other one had at the time.
