Until Crane Cams closed up before the restructuring a couple years ago, these cams were listed as 3/4 race cams on their website.

Well...................back in the day we did things real crude............................so the way we measured cams........................was with a tape measure...........................and 3/4 was...............................

1950?? Wow. That might indicate somebody like Chet Herbert or Racer Brown came up with it... My first professor (Red Lund) ran a Herbert roller in his T/F '32 roadster in the early days ('54, '55) with the 239 L-head Ford. I once had a Racer Brown solid roller for a 421. Chet ground the cam (nice guy, BTW), Brown supplied the lifters. They had "skirts" on each side to keep them "straight" on the lobe, circa 1960... Funny stuff today.

Back in grade school I remember a couple of brothers, older than me, they would bring a J C Whitney book on the bus and it had 3/4, and Full race cams listed in their book. One brother had a old 55 chevy and I can't remember what the other one had at the time.
