What size cam would you recomend for my 355?

i have a chevy 355 with speed pro flat top hypereutic pistons i dont have heads or an intake manifold yet but i am shooting for the 1500+ rpm range it is in a 85 monte carlo with a th350c tranny with a transgo reprogramming kit. i would like to keep my stock converter as it is mostyl driven on the sreet i am looking for a really hot street car thanks

A ZZ4 cam is a good one. Averages 315hp-340hp. You can get up to 380HP with it but with a good set of vortec heads ported, and DUAL plane intake. It makes respectable torque trust me.

There are many factors involved in chosing engine parts, make sure to consider the compression ratio among other things when choosing a cam. Start by knowing what the deck height of your short block is and the cc of the piston valve reliefs, also you will need to factor in car weight as well as rear gear. That stock stall is going to limit you big time, do you know what the stock stall rpm is?

really hot street car and stock convertor should not be used in the same sentence

I agree with Custom10. The best advice I can give you is to call one of the cam manufactures tech line. Tell them what you got and let them select the best cam for your particular set-up. Those techs are far more knowledgable than most of the responders you will get on this bulletin board.
