what spark plugs for my 500hp 454 049 heads?

Hello!

I am going to build a 0.030 over 454 with ported, portmatched 049 heads, 9:8:1 compression, XE284H-10, summits ignition kit SUM-CSUM2752, holley 870cfm street avenger carb, prof products crosswind intake and so on..

Street/strip usage. No nos.

On the build up the simplest question like what spark plugs seems to be the hardest one to find answers for, so I'm asking you what spark plugs?

Brand and numbers?

Thanks
Stefan Bergman

For the .460" reach peanut plug heads use a champion RV8C gap at .035"

The ignition will need to be recurved.

i don't really get what you mean with peanut plug because I have the large oval 049 heads but I go with that sparkplugs anyway, I know you choose the right one for me

by the way, very very off topic but I have a 2 bolt block and I aim for 500hp and 6200rpm (but I'm going to set rev limiter on 6000rpm) if I use arp bolt for main caps will the cheap arp pro series rod cap bolts be enough?

On the 2 bolt main 454 with stock oiling system keep the rpm under 6700rpm and you'll be fine.

I don't know what you mean by "cheap" ARP bolts. The key to using ARP engine bolts is correct torque and thread lubrication.

I like GM GMPP engine bolts for SBC's and BBC's.

The "peanut plugs" are the short reach .460" reach tapered seat style plug.
If your head has the tapered seat spark plug hole, this is the right plug style.

Other good plugs for this 454 head are Champion RBL9YC and RBL10YC
