I'm curious on what people are spraying with, and for what application (primer, base, clear)

I use a 1.5 $30 primer gun from Northern Hydraulics
I have a 1.3 Sata 98 that sits because there is a air obstruction (but was my metallic base gun).
I have a 1.5 Snap On (Sharpe) Excalibur I bought in a pinch, and regretted very much, also has internal air obstruction.

I have 2 Sharpe FX200 conventional guns ready to go as backups in case on of my guns fail for whatever reason in the middle of the paint job, they spray clear nicely, but they love to make over spray.

I have a 1.4 Sharpe FX300 I use as my main gun for base and clear, the cup lids are horrible, they shrink and break, I went through 3 of them in a month.
So I switch to the 3M PPS cup system, and I'll never looked back.

I have a few oddball touch up guns as well.

Iwata LPH400 1.3 for clear, purple cap for base. (About to purchase a w400 just for clear.)
Sata NR2000 1.4 For final prime sessions (wetsand) and epoxy/sealer. Back-up basecoat.
Sata KLC-P 2.5 for polyester primers, with a 2.0 conversion (tip, needle, cap) for urethane primers.
Sata Minijet for spot/touchup.

All are pps.

I went through so many of those cheap $30 guns for primer I decided to step up with the sata and never looked back. Thing is 3+ years old and still spraying like a champ.

Cutterbond, i have a Iwata 400, and the cap for clear. Disposable hf for primer. Now i have to learn how to paint with it.

It's not the gun that makes a painter!!!!

I use a Devilbiss FL3, for base coat, clear, most everything,

I have a $9.95 HF siphon gun for primer.

and I have some touch up guns. But they are not for touching up, just for spraying small items.

So you can spend a million dollars for a Sata, or whatever, it still doesn't make you a painter.

Any old timer will tell you that.

Tekna (devilbiss): clearcoat only
Devilbiss CVi : base/single stage metallics
Binks M1-G: Base/single stage
Sharpe 1.7 : razor. Primer (best primer gun ive ever used)
SATA SL 90 : old Primer replaced by razor
Binks 95G : Old old primer gun replaced by sata 90 rarely used now.

Guns don't make the painter. But they do have a story to tell....
I use devilbiss type guns for the ease of replacement parts, and because they don't have the fan control on the side like the sata guns do. I hate that. Its a flaw in my painting skills. I rest my pointer finger where the sata fan control knob sets. using a sata gun I turn the knob wile spraying
