What stall conv. do I use

I'll be putting in the rebuilt 355 SBC (about 300 hp), 700 R4 trans., in my 36 Ford 5 window coupe in about 3 weeks.
I'm running a 3:43 rearend, limited slip.
Could I have your opinion on what stall convertor to use?
Thanks to all.

stall converters for the 700R4 tend to be available in the range from 2500 to 2800 rpm but like the man said; gotta have the cam specs...........

The quick answer is to get one that matches the power range of your engine parts. If you cam starts making power at 2000 the a 2000-2400 would probably be ok. This is not a perfect method but it is a place to start.

There are a lot of variables that should be considered, Cam, intake, weight, rear gear etc.

A call to the converter company is usually you best bet but they will want a lot of information so be prepared

That'll do!!!!

Thanks for the info.....from what I've read a 1800 to 2300 would suit.
