What trans to buy?

I have a stock 350 motor and I need a trans. I am looking for the cheapest one to throw in my 1951 Pick-up. What do you recommend? This is just to cruze around town occassionally? Automatic of course. Thanks, Dana

I bought a level 2 th350 from Gearstar, it is rated for 400hp and came with atf, a cooler, and a 1800 stall convertor, all for 795.

Yep, TH-350 is going to be the cheapest as it is the most plentiful and easy to find.

For a town cruiser - why go anything more exotic then the tried and proven TH350. If you were doing road trips, then an overdrive, i.e.700R4, would be the way

Id get a 700r4, they can be had for the same price as a TH350 pretty much. In fact a while back someone just GAVE me a 700r4. The overdrive doesn't work in it he said but it was fine otherwise. It will probably need rebuilt, but still it was free.
