what transmission is this

Hi i looked at 2 transmissions today the guy said they were 1965 saginaw 3 speeds but they dont look like any ive seen before they have 4 bolts in the side cover and where the shift linkage attaches on the side cover its a splinded shaft the input and output are just like the saginaw
I want to use them in a street stock oval track car 300 horespower on pavement do you think they would hold up he only want $40 for the both of them

They sound like Muncie SM318 3-speed transmissions.

Too hard to find parts for and too light duty for most applications.

However, they are probably worth $40 just for the drums inside of them.

Where are you located?

All Saginaws have a 7-bolt side cover.
