What transmission?

Comrades, it’s me again, with the my project high-speed 4 wheel drive ’59 Caddy (can not invent a good name for it, please help)

So, we have resolute that its engine must be Cadillac 500 engine with twin turbo kit. And what should be its transmission?

Only rear wheel trans that will take 500 cubes would be a GM 400 turbohydramatic.

nevertheless It would be desirable for something permitting completely to realize all power.

there are many stronger parts for the t-400.

If you are to use twin turbos , you want a strong t-400

It seems, three speeds will not make available all its capabilities.


It is necessary generally to consider the drivetrain as a whole, and not just transmission.
So: what we must make with the 4-wheel drive? (Whence take a transfer case and front driving axle?) Me recommended swap them from S-series Chevy. And, If we shall use twin turbo, rear end should undertake updates too…perhaps.
