I have been surfing the web trying to find which Chrysler IFS works best with the '56 f100. I hear Volares/Aspens, Cordobas with original V8 but what years? I read 84 & up 'G' body with V8 but when I research that I find none with V8. I read the 76-80 Aspen/Volare with original V8 but they are'nt designated 'G' body. So what models and years have been used? In my Classic Trucks magazines I get every month the effies that have Volare IFS dont mention what years. If it has to be an original V8 then would Cordoba, 5th Avenues, Diplomats, Grand Furys have the right IFS and again, what years? I'll continue looking for answers on the net but I know one of you guys has all these answers. Thanks in advance. :welcome:

I don't follow the latest in F-100 mods, but why are you fixated on a Chrysler front end?

What volare IFS is best for 1956 f100?
After considering all others, cost is my main objective. All my extra money seems to go to my Harleys.

Volare chassis never changed.. I do belive the crossmember is the diffrence between the 6cyl/8cyl IFS. of course springs would also.
I helped install one that came out of an Aspen..I honestly don't remember the year, but I know that it has a V8 originally...the more research you do, you will probably find that the year doesn't make too much difference..In my opinion, this is one of the easiest, if not the easiest swaps to do..Plus it has a nice ride..But there are some drawbacks to it..The "K" member is a lot bigger than the Mustang II or the original crossmembers..So clearance with headers, steering linkage and oil pans will need to be addressed...
Let me know if this helps...

I put a volare front end from an '85 5th ave under my '48 Dodge car. The '85 is a uni-body, no front frame rails to swap, basically unbolt (4bolts) the volare section and roll it out, BUT,I don't know what your frame is like, but I had to totally rebuild the front frame section on mine . The s-10, as I understand, is a very popular front end swap, Have you considered that ?

I have to tell you, my brother put a Chrysler front end under his 55 F100 and wishes he had never done it. The steering box has been nothing but a nightmare, rebuild after rebuild and they are all sloppy.

Really?? wow that sucks about the steering box! The only problem we had was the linkage was a bit tricky, and fitting the mustang headers onto the 302 required adjustments... The ride quality for us was very nice, but I will admit that it might be a bit more "floaty" than some performance driven guys might want...For a cruiser, we couldn't be happier...But, now that I say that, watch us start having problems with our steering box..LOL

I have seen folks use LTD front suspensions (you may have to sign in) under these trucks. HERE's a 67 using a 06 crown vic front suspension...joe
