What would you build?

So i have a 1951 ford "tudor" custom car. Right now it has a olds engine and turbo 350 trans in it cuz well thats what we had available...

but if there was no restriction what would you put in it??

I keep thinking a like a ford 305 that could be raced a lil bit if i wanted to show off but would get decent milageage and be able to cruise all day.....

What are your thoughts?? Enginge/tranny combos?

Think big man! I'd put the biggest engine I could fit under the hood like a 428.
Does it look something like this?

Actually,
I like your original thinking. I have a truck with a 460 that get's 3-4 MPG. Wanna know how many cruises that things going on this summer if gas hits $5 per gallon?

I'd like to build a 34 Ford PU, and put a 5.0 or something similar in it. All the power you need, and still able to afford cruising around.

Sounds like maybe money is a factor....so, what's wrong with what you have now? There are many upgrades and custom pieces available for most Olds engines, and most can be made to run quite well....and look good. There are also many performance upgrades available for the TH 350. Olds engines were a good and pretty common swap years ago.

Now, if money were no object.....that's a different story.

Chevy lsx engine. 4.8, 5.3 or 5.7. Back it with a 6 speed manual and 3.55 gears in the rear. Fuel injection, 20 mpg all day, and enough power to please anyone.

Well thats a good point about the "whats in it works" but the 260 olds engine it has probably isnt a screamer... idk really though this will be the first year i get to drive it further than from the shop to the storage shed....

Do you know much about upgrades for that engine? its a 4.3.

A member on here mentioned on another post of mine "I wouldn't advise spending a lot of time or money modding the 260, it is a dead end AFA HP goes. IIRC, it has a 3-1/2" bore size- just like the POS 267 cid SBC engine"

Thus the reason i was looking into building a new engine....

Already built my car.

71 cuda convert 440 4spd. In the end you can not take it anywhere. At an intersection it is like fast focus , all eyes on you.

2nd chance...
F-bird has the correct idea. Something about the wc T-5 and that damn 302. It yanks you hard from the hole, revs out well, then stays together. A 90 LX 5L 5Spd w/ trunk will do nicely. Give me 2 please.
