Well folks, friday night i was driving the truck down the ring road, decided to open her up a bit and before i know it the engine decided it didnt want the #7 rod in the block any more. Some parts are good, (cam, heads, intake, ect.)

With only 3-4 weeks until cruse season, i am missing an engine.

So if you were in my situation, what would you build for your truck?

BTW, the truck is a 62 gmc. TH 400 with a 12 bolt in the back. 3.90 gears. I use it mostly for crusing and driving around but i like the wow factor of the crackle coming from the headers and a lope.

Any ideas would definatly help on what to build next.

A 383, 10:1 compression, 230-236 @ .050 hydraulic roller cam, a set of 200cc heads with some mild cleaning up, dual plane intake, 750 vac sec carb, simple HEI ignition... Recipe for a nice 430hp/460tq (easily), pump gas, your gears are good, and a 3000-3200 stall. Would cruise well and "haul the mail"

I would be very careful and build something that didn't throw a rod.
