Question

57 , before I stuck my foot in my mouth.I went out and looked at a 350 blk I have. casting #'s on back of blk where bellhousing bolts on should work . from what I understand it's a back up # for just that reason. a chevy freak that I know has a small book with just cast #'s in it . works for heads , intake an exhaust also. where he got this book is a big secret. never let me touch it. SO , if you can find someone with one ask them.
hope this may be of some help. not sure if a yard may have one or not. worst they could say is no. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Go to www.mortec.com This site will show you where to find your casting number and you can look that number up on this site and it will tell you the year it was made and all about it. You can also look up heads. They have a casting number directory or book that you can print out. I printed it out and I use it all the time now. Hope this helps!

there is also a casting date located back there it would read something like a.16.9 which would mean jan 16 1969 or 79 then the casting number will determine wether its 69 or 79 the letters(first digit) is the month GM dosent use the I second is the day third is the year. Most GM cast parts have this code cast into them. then there's the clock and mold numbers to find out at what time of day it was cast and in what order
