Post Whats a 267 worth?

I have an 81 Chevy 267 that runs ok but smokes a little. My brother was telling me that the 267's are not rare, just hard to come by. Is there any value to this motor as to I'm getting rid of it? What would a motor like this go for? Anybody want to make me an offer? Thanks. Bill

Personally I'd say at best for a tired 267 you'll get $25-50 for the longblock.Maybe $100 if your lucky.

Gentlemen, you are way out of line! thw worth of this motor is in direct proportion to how big your boat is, how deep the lake is and can one person handle this anchor by themselves.

Now, play nice!

This topic was just too hilarious for me not to register and add some input. I also had one of those 267's in my Impala, and the damn thing blew more exhaust into the carb than out the tail pipe. The previous owner ran it to the ground, and I got what was left of it. My advice is to get rid of it, but if you want to start a collection I have the old block w/ rod gouges in the one and two cylinders after we couldn't keep up with the oil leak. That engine isn't worth anything (except maybe better gas mileage if that), unless you can find someone like Croz who wants to keep something original. All I can say is I am much happier with my 350, which by the way should be breathing a little better thanks to the message about PCV's from earlier.

original?! nah, me and a friend are building a dune buggy and have been looking for a motor.... We built a go-kart out of a 5 horse brigs and straton and some random hunks of metal. it just didn't do enough though, no power.... I don't care as long as it runs, we will run the **** out of it and then do who knows what.
