look,i don't know much but 560 lift is in regards to the camshaft. the bigger the lift the more the valves open. 3.90 is the rear end gear and posi is posi-traction which makes both tires spin. hope that helps. what kind of car??

.560 lift ... is the amount of lift on your camshaft ... ( or the amount the valve in your cylinder heads lifts off the valve seat to allow fuel in/out )

3.90 Posi ... the gear ratio in your rear end ... and it is a Posi-traction

Deuce ...

"560 Lift": Probably refers to camshaft specifications. It would actually be '.560"' (0.560 inches) and the other releveant specification would be duration. Camshaft mfr's design many camshafts with differing specs to cover a specific engines operating range requirements.

"Lift" is the distance, in inches, that the valve comes off it's seat.
"Duration" (expressed in degrees of rotation ... eg 224) is the length of time that the valve remains open.

"390 posi"
This refers to the ratio and type of the rear differential.

"390"
is actually 3.90:1. This means that the driveshaft turns 3.9 times to every 1 turn of the wheel. This is a fairly low (high numerically) gearing ... better suited to the street or drag strip than the highway.

"Posi"
is short for "posi-traction". Otherwise known as a "limited slip" or "locking" differential. Most posi's have clutches inside the differential case that engage when one wheel starts turning faster than the other (spinning). When the clutches engage, the power (torque) is divided between the two wheels, and better traction results.

Not all diffs are "posi's". They have no clutches, or other means of "locking", and are referred to as "open" differentials.

HTH,
Don
