What's an '87 S10 worth?

The Grand Wizards in charge of our fleet have finally decided to part company with our shop truck. It won't pass DEQ's clean air test, (probably a bad Cat. since the motor is fairly fresh) and they aren't willing to throw another dime into it. '87 S10, V-6 automatic, runs and drives great and comes with a fairly ratty fiberglass canopy (BFD)... It will go up for sealed bid to the employees soon. I'm really not all that interested in it, but if I can get it for a song I'd spring.

Are these rigs all that desireable? - what's a song worth?

In my area a typical S10 is little rust, okay interior and blown 4 cyl. with a 4spd. I can buy them all day long for $150-$200
If you are wanting it for a project they are great because people practically give them away and parts are cheap and plentiful.
I would say for a running S10 in average shape for an '87...$500 tops.
The 2wd short bed standard cabs are the most desirable...around here at least. The majority of them are longbed 2wd.
I would like to build one in 'crew cab' style with a short bed and dually fenders

Later,
WEIMER

Weimer, that's what I figured - just wasn't sure since nobody I know builds them. This one's a long bed two wheeler with no rust. I think I'll bid $250 on it and if I lose out - oh well, worse things have happened..

I hope they don't wait till the tags expire to put it up for bid. If I get it, I don't want to have to buy a trip permit to get it home.
